Confidence Assertiveness
You want to be seen, no longer walked over, passed over, ignored, sidestepped, forgotten, discounted, unseen. Invisible.
Perhaps you’re yearning to join a group for learning to paint, or dance, or to sing, or jump out of planes, for example, and yet you hold yourself back with “I could never do that.”
Let’s work on your Assertiveness, Confidence, Voice: and finding your ground to stand on in your Life.
Beyond the age of 40, women in particular, may notice that they’ve suddenly become less visible in society. At work, women, and men, too, can find themselves in similar situations; with so many personalities, combined with job insecurity, it can be an intimidating place.
Equally, our relatives can overrun us, treat us as they did when we were young, not out of spite, but often out of habit, particularly siblings.
We’re building confidence in the knowledge that you have a space to occupy, meaning and experience to contribute, ideas to share, and your gifts to bestow. At work, home, with family, and in that group you want to join, but won’t let yourself.
There’s usually some boundary-setting work here, too. Perhaps you’re a people-pleaser, or a keep-the-peace person, or perhaps you need or want to avoid conflict altogether. We can work together wherever you want to be stronger, to stand in your own power and not be a pushover/doormat/invisible person.
Assertiveness hypnosis can help you become more comfortable with who you are, and develop an understanding of self: your worth, your values, and recognising when to step up, use your voice, and hold your ground for you.
I’ve become a stronger person because of the nomadic lifestyle we had. I was a very quiet and introverted person as a child and teen. As a young adult, I learned to speak up, and my life turned around when I did. I learned my boundaries, because not having them wasn’t an option for a fulfilling life. And my voice appeared in my creative writing.
I will help you learn to say No, and also to say, Yes!
Frequently Asked Questions.
What’s the difference between aggressive and assertive behaviour?
Assertiveness often comes from our centre, it’s who we are. We do not need to be abrasive or aggressive: we know our boundaries, our values, and we operate from them. No aggression required. Aggression = force, Assertiveness = power.
This sounds like it’s for introverted people. Is this true?
There is definitely a leaning toward introverted people, because extroverted people don’t often have an outward confidence problem. More introverted people benefit from confidence and assertiveness training, because we need to hear their voices, too.
How many sessions would you advise for this?
There’s a huge variation here, and it could be anything from 3 to 10 or more sessions. As always, we assess as we go along.
